The Maher Family-
Every year I have the privilege to capture this beautiful family and every year I am blown away with how stunning their photos turn out. They have a way of making everything cinematic.
But a LOT of thought goes into these sessions.
You may be thinking "what is there to think about?"
Oh dear, there is so much to consider! Where? When? What should they wear? What vibe do we want?
The first question is where and when. This will determine what color scheme we should go with. The primary color of the location is going to be the MAIN concern for what we want to wear. You don't want to wear green in a very green saturated location. Or white on a white pebble beach like dewey short. You want to stand out against your back ground. My usual rule is for mama to be the focal point and coordinate everyone else around her outfit.
So next question, what's vibe? Are we wanting playful and fun? Serious and reverent? Do you have photos saved on Pinterest or Instagram that you're DYING to recreate in your own special way?
Go With The Flow
Just remember, even with all the planning, the most important thing is to go with the flow of your shoot and HAVE FUN!
This photoshoot ended with the most incredible surprise. We were really wanting to take some photos on the dock; however, there was an older gentleman fishing and I did not want to disturb him. Thankfully the husband in my shoot took on the responsibility to ask if we could shoot for just a moment. It ended up being the best part of our whole shoot. The older gentleman caught a fish and allowed little Leo to reel it in and we got some photos with the fish. I will never forget this shoot and I hope they treasure it forever as well.
